Un sondeo con 177 expertos de 56 países convocado por el diario BBC selecciona los 100 mejores libros infantiles de todos los tiempos, la mayoría son en inglés.

La sección BBC Culture del Diario Británico de la British Broadcasting Corporation encuestó a 177 expertos en libros de 56 países para encontrar los mejores libros para niños de la historia, publicando luego el reportaje The 100 greatest children’s books of all time.

Nosotros nos enteramos via wmagazin.com con su reportaje titulado Los cien mejores libros para niños, de todos los tiempos, según la BBC, no incluye ninguno en español, este último detalle es puntual a nuestra discusión, tan solo seis profesionales hispanohablantes fueron incluidos en la encuesta, lo que puede llevar a una parcialización en la selección, Sin embargo, es importante tener en cuenta que también hay muchos libros infantiles excelentes escritos en otros idiomas pero también es meritorio indicar que la industria del libro de Norteamérica e Inglaterra ha sido históricamente robusta y que tal vez por su extension, cantidad de lectores, organización empresarial y distribución, sus creadores en estos idiomas y con sus traducciones han influenciado la memoria de la literatura infantil.

BBC Culture ha realizado en otras ocasiones importantes encuestas de cine y televisión, pero en esta ocasión se centraron en los libros infantiles, esos que nos acompañan (en algunos casos) hasta antes de nacer pues los padres leen a sus hijos aun estando en gestación en el vientre materno las mentes infantiles.

El idioma inglés es el idioma más hablado en el mundo, y también es el idioma más utilizado en el comercio internacional, la ciencia y la tecnología. Es posible que la mayoría de los mejores libros para niños estén en inglés porque fueron escritos por autores que hablaban inglés como lengua materna o porque fueron traducidos al inglés de otros idiomas. pero además porque muchos de los libros infantiles más populares se han publicado en países de habla inglesa como Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido por lo antes expuesto.

Es en los pasados 25 años es que hemos visto un auge de la literatura fantastica, el comic, la novela grafica en español que aun no se compara en cantidad de contenidos con lo que produce países como Japón o Corea del sur, lo cuales han dominado o se han hecho del espacio merecido en Occidente en el siglo 21.

Tal vez estos pasados 30 años de acceso digital y de redes sociales están emparejando la lucha para aquellos creadores e industrias que no han logrado estar representados, es probable que a mitad de este siglo, en 2050 un titulo originalmente en español logre estar en la lista, logrando con su alcance una repercusión mundial de distribución y aceptación publica, pues la calidad ya existe pero tal vez se espera esa pieza que inspire o abra la puerta para otros contenidos de habla hispana sean parte de la memoria infantil de un gran publico.
